Ukuleles for Concert Hall
Giovanni Albini Radar Theater Monopoli

My research in the construction of concert hall ukuleles focuses on creating instruments capable of supporting acoustic performances without the need for amplification. After years of study and experimentation, I have developed a bracing system for the soundboard, X-bracing, which gives my ukuleles exceptional sound projection.

Giovanni Albini - Museo Nazionale Strumenti Musicali

This particular bracing design not only enhances the structural strength of the instrument but also maximizes resonance and sound quality.
The result is a ukulele capable of filling a concert hall with a rich and full sound, meeting the demands of the most discerning listeners and the most demanding artists.
Listen to one of my instruments during a concert in the video below.
Sei corde nylon

Six Nylon Strings – Concept and Features
The “Sei Corde Nylon” classical guitar was born from the desire to create an instrument with a traditional sound, enriched by a particularly bright and powerful tonal character. For this project, I adapted my X-bracing system to a body with a less conventional shape, featuring slimmer, more rounded lower bouts.
The scale length is 652 mm. The soundboard, built with a slight arch, provides greater stiffness while keeping the thickness reduced, contributing to the instrument’s lively response. The fingerboard, with a 20" radius and a 51.5 mm nut width, ensures comfort and precision during performance.
Lyra Ukulele

LyraUkulele – Concept and Features
The idea for the LyraUkulele was born from Maestro Albini’s need for a unique instrument to be used in a theatrical performance.
In designing and building it, I drew inspiration from the single-arm Lyra guitar, also known as the “half-Lyra,” created by Maestro Luigi Mozzani between 1935 and 1940.
The soundboard is made of red spruce from the Val di Fiemme, while the back, sides, and neck are crafted from tropical mahogany. The bindings and fittings are in Indian rosewood.
The bracing pattern is an adaptation of my x-bracing system developed specifically for ukuleles.
The instrument features a concert ukulele scale and setup, with the addition of four drone strings—wound strings with a nylon core—which enrich its tonal range and depth.
